South of Teton Pass

Snow surfaces refroze from radiative cooling, but not nearly as well as the last couple of nights. At middle elevations the crust had broken down significantly  and was becoming unsupportable on solar aspects, around trees, and thin spots in the snowpack. Despite this, the clouds are helping slow warming a little bit.

Digging down there is still lots of wet snow underneath the surface. That being said, it seems that free water drainage is mostly established and there isn't as much pooling on layers like there was last week.

Overall the chances of triggering an avalanche is low, but wouldn't I be suprised if someone could initiate a wet loose avalanche on the warmest slopes later on in the day.

Snow coverage is getting thin on middle elevation slopes that face south and west.

On a non-avalanche hazard note I encountered a disgruntled moose south of the pass near the power lines.
