Quick report
We did not see any new glide avalanches. Although there are many cracks on Seattle Ridge, there were places we could go that were not under these cracks thankfully.
Our main goal was to take a look at the surface snow in anticipation of the stormy weather headed in this coming week. We found surface hoar on most surfaces, old wind crust, tons of ski/splitboard tracks, soft faceted snow and even some sun crust on steep southerly aspects. It is high time for some new snow!
Weather
Mostly sunny skies that became cloudy at the afternoon. Temps in the teens and light west winds along the ridge.
Snowpack
We dug one quick pit to look at the extent of faceting in the snowpack. Pit was at 2,200' on a SE facing slope, total snow depth ~3.5' (110cm). Pretty much the entire snowpack was faceted with the weakest snow in the top foot then harder faceting snow below (1 finger hard). The base of the snowpack was hard icy snow.
