Quick report
Today we skied the Boy Scout Couloir on Treasure Mountain from the summit ridge via the upper half of Lost Boys. We ascended via Eddington Canyon and the first Eddington Chute, moving into adjacent trees at about 8000 feet. We experienced no signs of instability on the approach or descent other than minor dry loose activity on steeper slopes. The weather was clear and very cold. On the approach (west facing) we noticed some old, stiff, and unreactive wind slabs, and small crowns covered with new snow. On the north face the snow was light, dry and without wind effect, and skied superbly. We carried a short rope for a potential belayed ski traverse entering the Boy Scout Couloir, a steep (~45 degree) unsupported slope that often loads and sheds, but found the rope unnecessary. The final 800 feet above the canyon bottom was predictably thick and threatening to ski bases.
