Marias Pass

We were hopeful to fit in morning fieldwork before some afternoon chores and warming temperatures.

• Unfortunately our intended route on Elk Mountain had largely bared off.  We instead drove the highyway corridor checking access and looking for recent avalanches.
• We did not see any recent large avalanches.
• Recent wet loose activity was limited to small point releases in the recent snowfall (~4 inches).
• Southerly wind-scoured slopes have melted off well into upper elevations.
• Typically wind loaded slopes are still holding snow on southerly aspects.
• Expect some walking through low elevations, especially on southerly aspects.
