Quick report
We were hopeful to fit in morning fieldwork before some afternoon chores and warming temperatures.
- Unfortunately our intended route on Elk Mountain had largely bared off. We instead drove the highyway corridor checking access and looking for recent avalanches.
- We did not see any recent large avalanches.
- Recent wet loose activity was limited to small point releases in the recent snowfall (~4 inches).
- Southerly wind-scoured slopes have melted off well into upper elevations.
- Typically wind loaded slopes are still holding snow on southerly aspects.
- Expect some walking through low elevations, especially on southerly aspects.
