Quick Observation

Headed for Ron Jeremy via Mammoth/Mastadon ridgewalk. Played it super safe skiing the ridge down to Ron Jeremy but right near the top of Ron we encountered a complex section and had to venture onto a slope we would have liked to avoid and it released when the skier was in the middle of the slope. Photos were taken from skier 2's safe spot position.

Avalanche Information

30-50cms deep, 20-50m wide (we believe it propagated around the corner, not sure how far). Ran 50-75m long into the trees below. Size 1-1.5 - windslab on sun crust.

Snowpack

Observed small slabs along the way (5-10cms deep), nowhere near as big as the loaded section that released to a size 1.5.

Incident

Skier 1 entered the slope while skier 2 watched from above in a safe spot. 2 turns in slope released above skier 2 but skier 2's location kept him safe. Skier 1 got behind 2 small trees and was safe for a few seconds but then was overcome but was able to change direction while moving downhill on his side, digging his edges into the bed surface he was able to ski out.
