We were surprised to see high storm totals (nearing 50cm in places), from the fault up to 8,700 feet where we turned around. Denser new snow then we were expecting. Widespread shooting cracks and general reactivity in the new snow. Dug a pit at 43.69854, -110.77570 on an approximately 27 degree east facing convexity. Height of snow was 130cm with 40cm of new storm snow. ECTP11 at the new snow interface. Quick hand hardness indicated fist from ground to surface. Pretty windy down in the valley, but not too bad at mid elevations, was consistently snowing throughout the morning. Crazy out there, stay safe!! We observed widespread shooting cracks as we skinned, even on low angle terrain, often propagating both above and below us. We were hearing muffled whoomphing at various places on the skin track and on the descent.
