Crispy, crusty, and dusty

Temps today were around -12/-15 and windy. The strong north wind has left some dodgy windslab deposits on lee terrain, mainly on ridge tops. While heading into Proper bowl a few of them cracked loose as we skinned over them. Snow conditions were extremely variable. We had it all out there. Some very sheltered areas in the open trees had decent turns. But we were surprised at how thin some areas are. It was a 5.5/10 kind of ski day.
Travel was tricky on certain south aspects. There was 15 cms of dry cold snow on a very firm layer, side hilling was a real challenge without crampons.
Where did that La Nina go?
