Top of an avalanche track on NNE aspect of purple knob on wind exposed lee terrain HS 180. Of note was a 10cm wind slab buried 40cm down, easy to detect with pole. Resistant planar shear on the top of this wind slab layer with a quick hand test but top 40cm was low density F to 4F . Dec 2 crust down 80cms here.
No wind affect in surface snow BTL in this region. Surprisingly no wind at all here BTL today. Cloudy and poor viz in the ALP. A few cms of new snow fell during the day. -14 Celsius at 2100m at 3pm.
