Journey to middleearth

The lads were back for more on the lizards tail. The plan was to ski one of the steeper runs off the east ramp of Tupper, but we quickly changed plans after getting closer to the top of the tail (the upper snowpack on the ridge is very thin with many exposed rocks).
The morning started off with broken sections of valley-fog with a high cloud ceiling above. The RH was significant throughout all elevations all day (07:00-13:00). The snow in the alpine is notably denser than yesterday and exhibited slab like properties. We did not experience any settling/motion but the general weight of the top 40-60cm of snow is alarming compared to yesterday.
We got a bit sandbagged by a group that descended the avalanche path below the bottom of the tail. We were told it was “a bit aldery”. It is definitely still VERY aldery and if you don’t know the exact route down it is quite gnarly right now. Be advised.
Swiss glacier still has open ice on it near rogers south (see photo); also two LARGE crevasses have opened up on little sifton glacier over the summer (see photo).
Here’s a few terrain photos for the folks.
