25cm of new snow in the trees over the last three days. Walked on snow to Elbow Lake and skinned from there. Breakable crust in the trees but dry snow surface made for decent travel. Turned around at the base of the steep slope were it go to 38 degrees and unsupported. At 1115, lots of size 1 loose wet from extreme east facing terrain in the morning. At 2850m found 70 cm of new settled snow with a 3cm crust down 10 cm. No defined layers but didn't want to test the steep slopes above. Breakable crust skiing for a couple hundred meters. Then found 35cm of storm snow. In the storm snow there was a soft crust on the old snow with some dry snow on top with another 15cm crust 3cm of dry snow on top, supportive to skis but not boots good skiing down to the trees from here. Walked the steep bits through the trees as there wasn't much snow but skinned the flats back to elbow lake were half of the snow had melted off the approach trail. The sun disappeared and back to convective gruapel/ rain at 115pm at the car. On the drive home noted quite a few wt loose avalanches out of the high alpine to size 1.5.
