Gypsum ridge
Kananaskis

Sporty is the word of the week in kananaskis. Creek crossing was ok. Checked snow depth a number of times on the way up gypsum ridge - varied between about 30-60cm. Top 10-15cm was sugary and below that is a melt-freeze crust similar to other reports in the area. Pretty unsupportive for skiing at this point as it’s not enough snow cover to hold down most of the alders. Easily punching through on skis. Approach trail is very (very) bushwhacky with alders. Cold (-20 at 11am, -14 at 330pm), sunny, no wind. We skied a north aspect.
