A Bit of Everything

It was a little bit of everything at Lucille today. We had blue skies that quickly switched to whiteouts and cleared up again all through the day. The snow was just as inconsistent with thick crusts on southern slopes, breakable crusts and facets on western slopes and a layer of surface hoar down 25 on northern slopes in the alpine. Elevation made a big difference too! North alpine was still soft and crustless while two thin crusts were found at treeline. Below treeline the crusts grew together and got thicker and thicker until below 1600m the snow turned moist. It was a real mixed bag but riding on lower angle, northerly slope in the alpine was by far the best.
