Quick Observation

The kind of day where you could check all the MIN boxes: warm/cold/really cold (inversion), sunny/cloudy (valley fog until you climb above it), great powder/hard crust/breakable crust (depending on what elevation band you were skiing). Today the visibility up high was outstanding, and across a large section of the White Pass, no signs of recent avalanches were seen. Fairly steady SW wind 15-20km/hr throughout the day. There is 10-15cm new snow undisturbed at roadside and in sheltered terrain. However, in the alpine and above 1400m, there is widespread moderate wind affect. Loading at ridge tops was not significant where we traveled. Probed 210cm at the toe of the Cleveland glacier. Looks pretty thin over towards the Chilkoot and still surprisingly thin all across the East Side into Big Blue etc. With the short days in December, the juice isn’t always worth the squeeze, but today was pretty good.
