We dug a quick pit and observed three layers of crust. The first crust layer was about 25cm down, the second about 65cm and both were fairly easy to trigger. The final crust layer was about a full arms length down and would have been hard to trigger unless the other layers stepped down. The pit we dug was facing northwest in the higher elevation trees.
