Evidence from the weekend when the wind was howling, transporting snow and loading over the ridge below Little Hector triggered a large slab avalanche. What appears to be over 1m crown, scrubbing to rock slabs, presumably steeping down to deep persistent layers. The avalanche travelled with enough force and momentum to travel up and over a small knoll feature below, ploughing a trough in the snow. Debris, mainly splash, was observed later in the day as we skied out North of this feature. Check out photos 1, 2 and 3 for reference.
