Apex Shoulder

Heavy snow, slightly upside down, wind affected at all elevations. Some cracking underfoot, occasional whumpfs at ridgetop where hard slab exists. Skiing was ok but heavy and slabby. Some pockets of soft pow in very sheltered areas. Low angle not skiing great, steeper terrain producing wind slab avalanches.

New windslab reactive to skier traffic anywhere in the open. Moderate propagation, not running far. Evidence of a natural cycle to sz 2 in the past few days. Bed surface a mix of crust, old facets, and buried surface hoar.
