New snow at Fraser

7 cm of new snow in the past 24 hours has freshened up the skiing at Fraser. This new snow is now covering the previously rock-hard wind slab from last week's strong winds. Although you can still feel this hard surface beneath the new snow it has greatly improved ski quality. We dug a snow pit at 1280M on a south aspect and found 265 cm of snow! In testing, we got moderate propagating results on a layer of decomposing fragments and 3 mm depth hoar down 50 cm from the snow surface. This is the first time we have observed this layer and we do not belive it is widespread. Wind was light through the day and tempatures were at cold -19. We observed no new avalanches.
