Winter solstice

Beautiful sunny day up avalanche crest! In the morning it was 0 degrees at the car park but snow was still dry. The weather started off with a inversion but cloud burnt off by noon then crept back in around 2pm with calm to light winds all day. Snow in alpine was dry in am with evidence of wind from the yesterday but no wind slab was noted. But by noon pin wheels and trees started to shed at around 1900m as we decent avalanche crest snow conditions started out great but slowly warmed up and at the bottom was mash potato.
