There has not been much change in the snowpack in the Crowsnest Pass area since last week. A wind slab 5 to 10 cm deep in open terrain features is not an avalanche problem but a conditions problem. The alpine is scoured with many bare patches.
Snowpack depths are roughly 80 cm with a fairly uniform, settled snowpack with no significant layers of concern.
While we were in the field today southwest winds were increasing and there were a few flurries.
The grooming was the best part of the day! It made checking out the snowpack from Window to Racehorse a breeze.
