Snowpack

Clear skies with cold temperatures have continued the faceting process in this area throughout the snowpack and on the snow surface.  Near surface facets exist in most shaded areas providing soft snow conditions.  This process is expected to continue to weaken the snowpack during this dry spell into next week as clear skies and cold temperatures are forecasted.  Avalanche concerns are limited at this point with the absence of a slab on top of this weakening snowpack.  The potential concern will be when our next storms arrive and how that loading event will interact with our weak snowpack.  Aspects that are getting sun this time of year have experienced some snow melt over the last week.  Very early season conditions exist with many obstacles present.
