Cracking
specific

We ventured over to the top of the south face of Jake's most skiers left. We dropped in since there was sufficient coverage. Once we dropped in, we immediately saw shooting cracks in the top 10 cm. Solar radiation through the clouds had accelerated the development of wet slides. As I skied, the snow started to move in an area wider than my skis. Between the rain crust and the mist on top of the snow, the slab was more consolidated than your usual wet slide. We aborted. The east face skied well, but was quite wet and sticky. According the Alpine summit reading, the temperature has increased to 33 degrees at the top. It will likely continue to be a wet mess tomorrow.
