Quick report
Our AIARE course observed 4cm of new storm snow during the morning at the Tamarack TH meadows and about 7cm HST by the end of the day. We were able to see newly developed (last 48 hours) wind pillows below ridgeline on the north facing Gasx shoots (see photo). We dug on NW aspects and found HS between 75 and 85cm. Two pit locations got moderate CT results (CT14SC and CT15SC) on the upper end of fist hard basal facets around 35cm from the ground. These 2-3mm facets seem to be moving into the rounding phase and despite being weak and sugary, are becoming more moist and showing signs of rounding. Both groups got ECTX on this layer. Areas without tracks skied excellent as the snowpack is largely faceted with a few cm of new snow on top.
