Quick report
Went for a lap on sunrise bowl. Driving up we saw the main, open part of the bowl had lots of bushes showing so we opted to stay in the northern, more treed part. There we found just enough snow from the road to near the top to stay on skis and have a fun day, but with plenty of vegetation sticking up or lurking just below the surface. We were on NE aspects the whole time and saw surface hoar just about everywhere that wasn't directly under a tree. At 7300' on a NE aspect we measured 30cm of snow and felt a crust about 20cm from the surface with our probes. At ~7700' on a NE aspect we measured ~42cm of snow. We dug a very rough pit to see if we could find the weak layers described in the advisory. We didn't do a proper hand hardness or compression tests, but there was a clear rain crust below the new snow, around 25cm from the ground and just below that was about 2cm of very obvious, sugary facets. Below that was dense snow except that the bottom 1-2cm also seemed loose and easy to clear with a hand.
