Quick report
Saw many roller balls and wet loose avalanches from today and yesterday. Witnessed several skiers trigger small wet loose avalanches on ~NE aspects below Artist Point. We triggered two similar avalanches (see avalanche section). A different hazard presented itself at the base of Martha's: med/large (shoe-microwave size) frozen chunks of ice below softer snow - something to keep an eye out for in the lower portions of those runs. When not moving, the snow was very fun on all aspects - certainly drier on northern slopes, and more corn like on more solar aspects.
Avalanche
Our party triggered two small (D.5-D1) wet loose avalanches on an E aspect, which ran on the recent crust ~6 inches down. This was on a slope leading into the Swift Creek drainage which was relatively shaded and no longer in direct sunlight. A good reminder to stay on your toes as the snowpack is very ready to slide with the amount of sun and warmth we're getting, even when we thought we were choosing a more sheltered/conservative line than where we had seen things move earlier in the day. No one was caught or buried, and better communication within our group would probably have prevented the secondary slide.
