Parked around 3,000’ at the quarry. Just beyond that there is a large tree over the road. Snow conditions in most places from 3,000-5,000’ were pretty firm with good traction. Sky cover ranged from obscured to partly sunny, with light to moderate snowfall, and light to no wind. The snowpack in this area has consolidated in the past week. We got the same probe reading of 110cm at 5,000’ in the same spot that we took a measurement last week. We saw evidence on all solar aspects up to 5,000’ of warming earlier in the week. On all aspects from 4,200-5,000’ there was about 10cm of fresh dry snow on top of a 2-3cm stout (but breakable ) crust. Below the crust was a cohesive snowpack. The snow directly above and below the crust was bonding to it. We did not see any signs of current instabilities.
