Decided to take advantage of a passable Echo Lakes Road and was able to drive all the way to the PCT parking above the Echo Lakes Chalet. Traveled mostly on N aspects between the chalet and Becker Peak between 7,500' - 8,000'. 31F and moderate to strong snowfall from 6-7pm. 6" of new snow with 2" falling in 1 hour including more than an inch on what had been bare pavement. Coverage varies from bare to trace snow on S slopes and lower angle areas to 2+' on steeper N slopes. New snow appears quite cold and fluffy however spray from ski turns has distinct roller ball qualities to it. The old snow has not frozen and is unsupportable mank. In general new snow does not readily separate from the old snow however there may not be enough snow yet to determine how stable the old/new interface is -- in one instance while skinning across a small steep convexity the snow underfoot sluffed down to this interface. Overall decent skiing conditions however finding areas with a good base is a serious crux.
