Dug a pit at 8400ft on a north aspect. ECTP 13, Q1 shear quality. Full propagation of the column about 2ft deep (65 cm) failed on buried surface hoar. Also observed a layer 4 in down that was reactive. Strong south west wind (enough to blow your hat off) transporting snow. Skied low angle terrain and found good turns and soft snow above 7000ft. Widespread breakables crust at lower elevations
