Lick Creek Road is in rough shape for snowmobiling... watch out for open water, the holes are opening up fast. We ascended the east line on Beaverdam around 11:30am. Today's sun felt hot but the air temp wasn't. The snow was just soft enough for skins to 7500' and supported our boot pack the rest of the way, except a few post-hole steps too close to solar heated rocks. 😎 The line was sluffy but stayed firm a few inches below the surface and skied really well so we went back for seconds on the apron. Fewer rocks and better quality than expected over all. I was surprised to find that the snow was softest at the drainage bottom and Beaverdam summit, with mid-elevation east aspects staying shaded later into the morning. Several days-old slides observed from previous warming. Plenty more cornices up there waiting to come down.
