We went to a NW aspect at mid elevation band, and found reasonably good stabilty. There was a thin 3-4mm melt-freeze crust at the surface and multiple slab layers below before getting to a multiple crust & facet sandwich layer about 15cm thick. Stability tests showed moderate shoes for fracture initiation but low propagation potential. The weak layer of concern in one pit was 23-25 cm down from the surface, but in another it was the crust-facet layer itself. Total snow depth was approximately 140cm. We see no shooting cracks, collapsing, out other signs of instability despite having a slab over a weak layer structure. The slope was skied by our group of seven without incident.
