Quick report

We traveled to the site of a recent fatal avalanche accident. No obvious signs of instability were noted during our travels to the site.

Snowing lightly at lower elevations (1000). Snowfall intensity and winds increased with elevation. We left the accident site around 1230 as the weather was making it extremely difficult to investigate the avalanche accident.

Snowpack

A recent storm dropped 30-40 cm (12-16") with higher amounts in some locations. This new snow fell on weak layers that were buried on 12/13/24 and 12/08/24. ECTP 16,17, 37 cm (15") down.

We received notification of a fatal avalanche accident Sunday around 1700. Two PAC forecasters traveled to the site to conduct an investigation Monday.
