Frog Lake

We went out to the Frog Lake area today. Upon our arrival, the cloud cover was still pretty broken, and winds were light out of the southwest. As we progressed through the day, overcast skies continued to build and believe it or not, it snowed today!! Snow totals did not add up to much with intermittent snow showers on and off. There was maybe a trace of snow on the ground by 1300.  Precipitation particles were small and mostly de-fragmented or slightly rimmed up. New snow and winds were blowing small amounts of snow around, but certainly not enough for any sort of wind slab formation or signs of instability along the way. On the tour almost all aspects above 8500' had some sort of melt freeze crust on it. In some areas the crust was breakable and in most areas it was supportable. Either way facets existed below these crusts. With mostly cloudy skies and cold temperatures the surface snow never softened up.
