We found 6-8" of recent snowfall. This recent snowfall formed thin reactive storm slabs on the NE-facing slopes. These thin storm slabs failed on the old snow/new snow interface, breaking 10-20' wide. We observed a small natural avalanche along the NW spur ridge of Wx station Pk.
Cracking was observed within the recent snowfall, cracks only extended about 5' in front of our skis. Muffled collapses were felt below the recent snowfall, where the wind had stiffened the snow surface. In steep terrain, small storm slabs were easily triggered, breaking 6-8 inches thick and about 10-15' wide. In very steep solar slopes, initiating small dry loose slides on the crust below was possible, entraining downslope snow. Natural storm slabs were observed in steep NE facing terrain near Wx station Pk.Weather

Skies were mostly overcast, with intermittent pockets of sun. Winds were light from the NW.
Snowpack
Recent snowfall fell on a variety of old snow surfaces. On NE, near surface facets rest below 15-20 cm of new snow; these storms slabs were reactive, and it was easy to trigger 10-20 foot wide pockets in steep terrain. Winds stripped most of the solar terrain traveled on today, with only a trace to 5 cm above a stout crust. It was difficult to get new snow to move on these slopes, but once initiated, it would entrain more snow as snow moved downslope.
