Quick report
The Mtn saw very little sunshine today. There was heavy fog from the rim to the tree line most of the day. It snowed from 11 AM until at least 4:30 PM above 3000'. There was 2-3" of new snow from, Saturday and Saturday night, below the tree line. Higher up the new snow had been scoured and transported and the depth was hard to discern. Some places were scoured ice (above 6500'). The very steep east aspect of Monitor Ridge (7500-7700') had at least 3 feet of wind transported snow. Snow this weekend has filled in the gap in the rim cornice that was associated with last week's fall, and extended the whole cornice out a bit farther. It extends at least 30 feet over the crater above more than 1000' of air. There is also a fragile cornice on the east side of the climbing route between 4600 and 5600'. The snow between 4800 and 6000' had a firm top layer (2-3" thick) over softer snow. No signs of avalanches or instability other than one roller ball on a very steep slope at 3600'.
