There was some nice powder and fun riding conditions up Beaver Creek today but the presence of a buried weak layer of surface hoar down 40cm kept us off of any bigger slopes with potential consequences. There was 12cm of new snow which was being blown into fresh wind slabs and building up cornices in the alpine on lee north and east facing slopes. The day was warm and the sun was intense during breaks in the clouds. This created some moist snow and "pinwheeling" on south and west faces and at lower elevations where the temperarure was well above 0C.
