Sherbrooke Lake 4-Dec-2021

steven.a.kovalenko, Sunday 5th December, 2021 9:45AM

Leeward aspects went big during last storm cycle. Treed paths below Ogden wall all went big (to the lake) as far as we could see, including the main gully. Except White Knight and Rabbit (although vis wasn't ideal - could be debris under the new snow). Ever ask yourself "How does that main Christmas tree gully and path go big to the lake?" Observe the debris in the gully feature at the lake now, from the storm slab crown up high in the alpine at the top of the bench. The conditions were a mixed bag. Below 2100m gnarly crust, difficult uptrack through trees. Up in the alpine better skiing was had on mellow slopes, and we were very suspicious of the storm slab in any area that didn't slide. We didn't have any significant result in a quick pit on SW aspect up on the bench. The typical Christmas tree exit below the bench was 20-30cm on top of a hard crust. Was like skiing pow on moguls at the resort. Planar slopes would be more fun until it fills in more. Snow felt surprisingly slow and heavy for Dec.
