Quick Observation

2cms in Fernie was a suprising 15-20cm low density stellar powder on the latest firm wind hammered and warmed surfaces. Foot pen and ski pen was 15cms. Some new small loose dry sloughs off steep terrain, and evidence of old slabs and debris piles were noted. Sledding was good and skiing proved amazing. Some cracking on the buried surface hoar down 30cms was seen at treeline 1900m elev where HS was 150cm. 1800m temps went from above 0 yesterday to -7 this am, -2 at noon and -13 this evening.
