Quick report
Took a look around Whitney Basin today to check on conditions. Roughly 10-12" on the shady aspects, deeper where the wind has drifted it around and many of the south facing slopes are bare. What little bit of structure and body the snow pack had a week ago, is now just weak sugary faceted snow. There is some hit or miss wind and heat crusts scattered around, but generally I was finding an unconsolidated snow pack. The mild weather might be helping to keep the snow from going totally weak and unsupportable.
Off the ridge lines in some of the starting zones, it has filled in some, but still lots of bushes and rocks and no slab.
