I don't much like the loose snow capped by the 2-7( Dickens) rime-crust. It is graupel and rimed snow, and it has not gained any strength since it was buried or encrusted by rime.
We found decent snow conditions, dominated by the Dickens Crust which is solid at low elevations, breakable on many mid elevation slopes, and softer on upper elevation sheltered slopes. Unfortunately, the light was rather flat, but it's always nice to get up into the Wilderness.
