Quick report

Our AIARE Level 2 Course explored the West side of Mt Washington. We skinned to 3700' and dug a pit for our students to acquaint themselves with a new snowpack. The west side is largely scoured and very firm. We did not observe any signs of instability.

Snowpack

We observed a HS of 105cm. There was a 2cm MFcr on the surface with softer snow just below it. Below that is another stout crust which sits on top of 4F facets. The mid-pack is largely a mix of knife-hard crusts with facets mixed in.
