Quick report
Hayden and I rode from the Pilgrim Creek Snowmobile Park around the east side of Ash Creek Butte to Jack Flat. The snow is supportable for a sled but stepping off will have you plunging to your knees or deeper. Grooming will be taking place the next couple of days. Traveling on FSR 19 is not advised, as it is being plowed for timber harvest from the parking lot to within a couple of miles of the turn for the Brewer Creek Trailhead. There is about two feet of snow on the ground from the parking lot to 5,000 feet. Snow depths and riding conditions improve rapidly above this elevation with new snow measuring 1-3 feet deep depending on aspect and elevation. On a NE aspect of Ash Creek Butte at 6,300 feet, the snowpack is 11.5 feet deep. Except for roller balls on low elevation slopes, we did not observe any signs of instability.

Near-freezing temperatures and low visibility throughout the day, with fleeting glimpses of blue sky. Light rain below 5,000 feet and periodic light snow showers above 5,000 feet. By mid-day trees below 5,500 feet were rapidly shedding snow from their branches.
