Quick report
Went up to Esha today to look for fresh turns and stay vigilant for any wind slabs and rapidly warming fresh snow. We found neither in the high northerly terrain we were after. HN ~50cm of unconsolidated fresh snow on top of a hard melt freeze crust. N aspect -12000’. A bit of settlement occurring in the upper layer of fresh snow At lower elevations and lower angled slopes there was a mix of wind and sun effect on fresh snow, but as we moved higher the snow became softer and more cohesionless. We did not find any wind slab instabilities and hand pits along the way showed a loose cohesionless layer of snow, which did sluff a bit as it was skied but did not fail as a cohesive slab. While it was warming up quite a lot today, we only experienced cold snow on high northerlies and fun hotpow / early corn on lower parts below 10k. clear skies, very calm winds, and warm temps! an april day for the ages! overall impression of stability- good, but we were intentional about avoiding solar slopes and chutes 3/4 appeared to be cross loaded on NE parts of the gullies, which we sought to avoid.
