Quick report
- Cracking
- specific
Triggered small wind slab on Gordon Lyon. There was some minor localized cracking near the ridge that between our first visit to check the line out and the second, an hour or so later there has been some wind transport that changed the snow surface from soft unconsolidated to slabby, so those were fresh wind slabs. I did two ski cuts and then turned with a suspicious mindset and saw the small slab break. I was able to stop and let debris run by and ski the bed surface out. Bed surface was soft so thinking faceted weak layer.

I triggered a wind slab near the ridge at one of the north facing chutes at Gordon Lyon. The crown was about 5 inches thick. It broke off right underneath me as I was stopping after a suspicious turn. It ran about 100 ft down and was approximately 25 ft wide.
