-
The wind and snow were loading the leeward side of the ridgline.

Quick pit along the trail. No Result on the ECT. Was unable to find anywhere along the ridge from chilly peak up toward Ben Lomand where there was lingering snow from the November storms.

-
The new snow may form a softslab and move or could have large sluffs due to the amount of new snow.

Just off the ridge lines the snow was forming a slab.

The new snow was very light and was not forming a slab. I was unable to find anyplace above 8000 feet where there was old snow from November. There was 95 cm of snow all from these late December storms. There was a small either melt freeze crust or rain crust at 40cm. On the way back down I did notice some cracking along the trail in steeper places after I went by I think it was just in the new snow finally overloading.
