Collapsing
specific

Alaska Avalanche School rescue course spent the day on the backside of Blueberry Knoll at about 2200'-2300'. Weather: Overcast, Temp: 32, calm winds. Snow conditions were highly variable, from almost no snow/wind scoured to ground on backside of Knoll, to supportable melt/freeze layer with rain crust on top, to rain crust over wind board, to rain crust over facets. Snowpack is still collapsing in specific areas on buried facet layers from December. Both groups experienced one or two collapses/whumphs in areas where snow had accumulated (drifts, in trees, etc).
