Red Flags
Heavy Snowfall, Cracking

There was about 6 inches of new snow from the night before. Snow rates were increasing in the early morning and were consistently about 1" per hour. Experienced a few 50 foot cracks on the south facing slopes and pulled out a small pocket in a gully. Both were sliding on the new/old snow interface. The new snow was inverted and had a lower density layer from the start of the storm at the bottom. I could see this layer still being a problem tomorrow.

My biggest concerns for tomorrow are: 1) new snow tipping the scales on slopes harboring weak layers and 2) storm slabs running at the new/old snow interface that may not settle overnight. The next several days will require VERY conservative decision making.
