Teton Pass: Wolf Trap

Quick report

Investigated the recent skier triggered avalanche reported on 2/25 in Avalanche Bowl that occured in Wolf Trap. Continuous snowfall during the day around S1. 5cm of new snow by noon at 8800'. Low to moderate SW winds. Multiple reports of propagation in stability tests on Feb 18th persistent weak layer. 

Snowpack

Wolf Trap Avalanche: Found very poor structure with that Feb 18th nasty facet/crust combination. Poor snowpack structure below failure layer, but no proagation including the Jan 26th layer. 

8760' SE aspect HS: 215cm ECTP21 PST30/100 on 1-1.5mm facets above melt freeze crust (Feb 18th PWL). 

Also spoke with a Level 1 avalanche course who found similar extended column and propagation saw test results on the Feb 18th facet layer on a NE aspect around 9000'.
