Quick report
Unlike more northern parts of the forecast region, even the crest is lacking in snow coverage in the southerly zones. Consistent snow coverage is limited to isolated chutes, gullies and bowls above 10,500'. Some slopes hold latent snow, some are wind loaded, and some wind scoured.
Active wind transport of snow was evident from two high elevation, ATL, fetches today.
There is just enough snow to make travel difficult starting around 9500'. NTL, the snow that we traveled through consisted of weak, sugary facets. Thin wind skins were found in very isolated areas.

Today was sunny and warm, with increasing SW winds throughout the day as we gained elevation and approached the crest. Temperatures dropped significantly as the sun passed behind the crest, and wind chill was bitter. Cloud cover increased throughout the day over the crest as the upcoming storm began to move in. Active wind loading was observed in isolated areas with snow available for transport.
