AAS L1 Refresher course had two groups out doing short tours out of Independence Mine parking lot. About an inch of new snow over night; it was being transported at ridgelines as the winds increased early afternoon. Temperatures were pleasant in the 20Fs. Beautiful January light with cool clouds to observe all day long. Snowpack is thin (HS85cm @3150') and stable. No significant test results, as snowpack lacks cohesive layers. We did find 2-3mm cupped basal depth hoar along the skin track to Eldo bowl. Ski quality on recycled powder ok.
