Quick report
We toured up from Skeetawk to the ridge to the west of the Frostbite bottom weather station. We dug a snow pit at around 3000 ft on the way up the slope above the weather station to the west. It was in the shade and somewhat protected from the wind. There was maybe 10 cm of new soft now, then a pretty stiff slab, and about 10 cm of very loose sugary / faceted snow at the base (about 50-60 cm deep). An isolated column failed after 3 taps from the elbow. Given the potential instability we skinned up to the ridge and skied our skin track sticking to <30° slopes. Wind and sun crust skiing, which was more pronounced above 3000 ft. Beautiful day in the sun though!
