Tour up to Source Lake from Alpental. Overall, weather matched forecast: light scattered showers in the morning with some sun, light - moderate snow showers in afternoon with no sun. Blue skies peeked out around 4pm @ Alpental base. Almost no wind - new snow stayed on trees. One exception was 3 cm of new snow fell in about 40 mins @ 3900 feet around noon above Source Lake. Observed old avalanche activity on southwest aspect cliff band looking north from skin-track towards Snow Lake Trail (pictured). Throughout tour, new snow was unconsolidated, with no slab formation observed via hand shear tests. @ 3900 feet elevation, 12pm, north of Source Lake on south aspect, compression test yielded a failure of 46 cm of new snow at the old snow interface @ CTM/CT14. No persistent layer observed. Observed inter-storm density change.
